In my documentary project "Breaking Points" I explore three themes of the domestic abuse journey through visual and written storytelling in partnership with DA survivors themselves: first red flags, breaking points, and pieces of the self reclaimed. This project was inspired by my own healing journey from a ten-year domestic abuse relationship. My intention for this project is to dismantle the visual stereotypes of what a victim of domestic abuse looks like, to give voice to the stories that want to be heard so that others may hear these stories and find healing and courage through them, and to provide witness to and resources for the healing journey.

I am currently seeking domestic abuse survivors in North Carolina, South Carolina and across the mid-west to photograph for this ongoing documentary photography project. My goal is to photograph 100 women (and women identifying) domestic abuse survivors and publish this series as a book. If you or someone you know would like to share their story, please contact me here for further details and information. Thank you.
