The other day I wrote to you about a program called Spinning Gold, the work of magic maker, author, creative, storyteller Briana Saussy.
(Download a FREE SAMPLE OF THE COURSE Spinning Gold here.)
I mentioned there would be an audio interview where we talked about the relationship between creativity and practicing magic -- well, the do-over is here! (thanks Mercury-not-totally-out-of-shadow-period).
In this audio Briana and I discuss holy helpers (~15min. in and one of my favorite areas of magical relationships to explore...see more below), the power of being in community when practicing creativity and art and a bit more about the program Spinning Gold and how it is deeply beneficial to practicing artists.
In Module II of Spinning Gold, the story featured is "The Baba Yaga & The Sacred Art of Lineage + Legacy", a story I find myself returning to whenever I meet with a life experience that feels like...there are no solutions...there is no light...there is no way out of this situation but going completely bankrupt in all of my bodies (spiritual/mental/physical/emotional).
Then comes in: The Power of Courage + The Holy Helpers
In the story of the Baba Yaga, "a young, naive, girl finds herself abused and misused by those who should care for and protect her. Will she find succor with a witch of the wild woods fabled to eat plump children or meet her doom?" (Briana Saussy)
Well, to make the story short, she doesn't meet her doom.
Instead, she meets with some very scary challenges as opportunities to trust her internal magic (and her holy helper, her doll) and surrenders to what she cannot control. The doll and life on the outside take care of the rest.
As artists, especially as freelancing artists, we will experience situations in practice (our personal work, as much as) our professional work that can possibly bring extreme overwhelm, uncertainty, a questioning of self, perhaps a very fast heartbeat and the feeling that we are alone -- when we are not.
We have holy helpers (forums, peer communities, talismans, the land we walk, strangers) that will support and guide us through those unfamiliar spaces. But, we have to be willing to trust:
Trust in our ability to problem solve and pivot.
Trust in our courage.
Trust in our creativity.
Trust in the asks that we make. (There is no shame in asking)
And trust in our ability to SPIN GOLD,
even when everything is looking like shit.
You've got this.
**There are few programs I affiliate for (Spinning Gold by Briana Saussy, Manifestation Masters by Jen Mazer (this program was a life saver during my first season of healing from an abusive 10 year relationship), when something great comes along by Ash Ambirge/The Middle Finger Project (I particularly dig her freelancing email templates) and these cute posing-prompt cards for photogs by Superfeel -- get 20% off automatically when you use my link) and that's because I'm super choosy about how I spend my money, energy, time -- and I know you are too.
I have been working with each the women mentioned above since 2013 -- that's nearly seven years. I trust these women and their work and I wouldn't market them to you if I didn't believe in the power of their material.
So Much Love to You.
